Verdict: The only golf romance on our Kindle Unlimited shelf, and one of the funniest books on it. The golf is mostly puns, a career meltdown and a clubhouse — but the terminology genuinely reaches the page, which is more than most of this shelf manages.

Best for: Readers who want small-town comedy, best-friends-to-enemies-to-lovers, and a heroine who runs something rather than watching from the stands.

Heat level: ★★★★☆ (4/5 — “Explicit open door” on romance.io, from 38 reader ratings)

Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.0/5 — 3.92 on Goodreads across 4,046 ratings and 3.73 on StoryGraph)

This is an LRR evidence review. We have not read the book text. Everything below is assembled from Goodreads, StoryGraph, romance.io, Amazon’s own review corpus, the author’s channels and named book blogs — and where the evidence stops, we say so rather than filling the gap.

Kiss My Putt opens Tara Sivec’s Summersweet Island series and is the sole golf title on our Kindle Unlimited sports guide. Palmer “Pal” Campbell is a tour professional whose career stalls after a public breakdown on the eighteenth hole of the Bermuda Open. Birdie Bennett manages the clubhouse at the course he comes home to. They were best friends. He blocked her two years ago.

How much golf is actually in Kiss My Putt?

This is the most evenly split call we made in this batch, and we are going to show you the split rather than resolve it neatly.

Against: not one blogger we read describes a tournament, a round, a practice session or a caddying scene. Ana’s Attic foregrounds “the golf puns? OUTSTANDING”. Jeeves Reads names only the opening Bermuda Open meltdown. Brian’s Book Blog notes chapter-title puns and no PGA detail. Lisa Loves Literature cites Caddyshack references rather than play.

For: readers report that the sport’s language and mechanics do land. One Goodreads reviewer: “I learned a lot about golf, and all its terminologies.” A StoryGraph reader: “I don’t think I have ever or will ever get hot and bothered by good golf swing.” Another reader is more direct in the other direction: “golf is so boring and i didn’t understand anything they said about it” — which, read carefully, is also evidence that a lot of golf talk is on the page.

Our measurement leans the same way. Of the book’s 182 US written Amazon reviews, golf is named in 76 — 41.8%, the fifth-highest sport-name rate on our shelf — and a tournament is mentioned in 7, or 3.8%. That competition rate sits above the 2.3% median for books we grade MODERATE.

Our grade: STRONG SPORTS SETTING with MODERATE on-page sport — unchanged, and now supported both ways. The course is the world of the book, the heroine runs its clubhouse, and the sport’s vocabulary is genuinely present even though no round is dramatised.

Where the heroine sits

Birdie manages the clubhouse. That puts her inside the venue rather than inside the sport — she is not a golfer, not a caddie and not a coach, and Palmer’s caddie is a separate character. It is a real job at the course rather than a structural position in the competition, which is why this book sits one band below CORE SPORT.

Book synopsis

Palmer melts down in public at the Bermuda Open and comes home to Summersweet Island, where the woman he cut off two years ago now runs the clubhouse he has to walk through every day. She is not inclined to make it comfortable. The book runs on their history, the small-town cast, and an enormous number of golf puns.

My review

The blog reception is markedly warmer than the platform averages, which is worth knowing. Four blogs rate it between four and five stars — Ana’s Attic at 4.5 with heat 4.5, Jeeves Reads at five calling it “slow burn to SCORCHING”, Brian’s Book Blog at five for the audio — while Goodreads sits at 3.92 and StoryGraph at 3.73. That gap usually means a book that delights the people it is aimed at and puzzles everyone else, and the “golf is so boring” review supports exactly that reading.

The comedy is the point. If broad, pun-driven small-town romance is not for you, no amount of golf will fix it.

Is Kiss My Putt on Kindle Unlimited?

Yes, verified on 22 August 2026 by reading the Kindle format swatch on the book’s own Amazon product page. Enrolment changes without notice.

Does the author publish content warnings?

No public warning set found. tarasivec.com carries no content-notes or trigger-warning page for this title or the series. Reader-sourced material is unusually thin here too — the only thing we found was a Goodreads reviewer confirming there is no cheating. That is an absence of evidence, not evidence that the book contains nothing difficult.

Ending, cliffhanger and series position

HEA: yes. Cliffhanger: no. Two Goodreads reviewers confirm the happy ending, one of them noting it is “a hole in one. Literally.” romance.io carries a standalone tag. Summersweet Island continues with other couples.

Audiobook

An audiobook exists, dual-narrated by Kelsey Navarro and Tim Paige for Tantor Media, and one blogger rates the audio five out of five. Whether audio is included with Kindle Unlimited is UNKNOWN — we found no Read and Listen for Free language and the Audible product page returned an error.

What readers are actually saying (October 2026)

Blogs love it, platforms like it, and the golf divides people cleanly. Reddit: UNKNOWN / NOT ACCESSIBLE — blocked from our research environment, nothing substituted.

If you loved Kiss My Putt, read these next

For the same comic register with more of the sport on the page, The Dugout. For another heroine working at the venue rather than in the sport, Teardrop Shot puts her on the staff of a basketball training camp.

The bottom line

The only golf romance in the programme worth listing, funnier than it is sporting, and better liked by the people who review it carefully than by the general average. Go in for the puns and the small town.
