Verdict: A short, high-heat obsession romance between a mafia heir and a graduate student, with chemistry its readers love and an author-guaranteed HEA, held back by a conflict that one reader says gets skipped over and a quiet quarter of raters who never explain their lower scores.

Best for: Readers who want a possessive anti-heroine, an innocent who wants to be wrecked, and plenty of heat in under 300 pages, and who prefer their mafia romance light on body count.

Heat level: ★★★★☆ (4/5 — our estimate; romance.io lists the book with no ratings, the author markets it as very high heat, and readers call it hot)

Rating: ★★★★☆ (3.6/5 — rests on very little reader evidence: a 4.21 Goodreads average from 135 ratings but only seven written reviews, all five stars, while a quarter of Goodreads raters gave three stars or fewer)

Tropes: Mafia heir and student, obsession, possessive anti-heroine, sexual awakening, touch her and die, power imbalance, opposites attract, dual POV, kidnapping, guaranteed HEA.

My Mafia Princess is a standalone in Jade Fierro’s Queens of Ravenport series, self-published on February 18, 2026: a dark sapphic romance in which Octavia Lucchesi, heir to the most powerful mafia family in the city of Ravenport, corners biology graduate student Sloane Bellamy in a marble bathroom and decides that Sloane, girlfriend and careful life included, now belongs to her.

It has more readers than its review count suggests. Goodreads shows 4.21 from 135 ratings and Amazon 4.4 from 180, but there are only three written reviews on Goodreads and seven on Amazon, three of which are the same reviewers posting twice. Every written review is five stars. The rating spread tells a slightly different story: on Goodreads, 32 of 135 ratings are three stars or lower, and none of those readers wrote a word. Both halves of that picture matter before you start.

What Is My Mafia Princess About?

This is obsession romance in a mafia setting, which is a narrower thing than mafia romance in general. The engine is not a turf war or an arranged marriage but one woman’s fixation on another. The author’s own trope list leads with obsession, a possessive anti-heroine, power imbalance and a touch-her-and-die promise, and adds a guaranteed happy ending, which tells you this is dark in mood rather than in outcome.

Sloane narrates a safe life: a safe girlfriend, a safe future, a degree in progress. Octavia narrates the opposite, a woman who does not chase because she takes. The book alternates between them, so the reader gets both the pull Sloane cannot explain and the certainty Octavia does not question. Like the other Queens of Ravenport books, it is a standalone set in a shared world, and the author says the series can be read in any order.

What Makes This Sapphic Mafia Obsession Romance Work

  • The first meeting: Two readers single out the opening encounter in a bathroom, and one says the sparks fly off the page from that first scene. The book commits to its premise immediately.
  • Chemistry: Every written review mentions the pull between Sloane and Octavia. One Amazon reader praises an “exquisitely hot buildup” and another simply calls it hot and romantic.
  • Light on carnage: One reader notes that the violence is minimal for a mafia story and that the conflict between the heroines is real and clearly drawn. That is a selling point for readers who want the mafia frame without a body count.
  • The supporting cast: Sloane’s mother and a character called Adriana earn specific praise, which is rare in a book this short.
  • Clean editing: One reader goes out of their way to say it is well edited, without the errors they have come to expect from fast indie releases.

Book Synopsis

Sloane Bellamy has built her life to avoid surprises. She is a graduate student in biology at Queens Court College, she has a girlfriend who is kind and dependable, and she knows what the next few years are supposed to look like. Ravenport has its powerful families and its rumours, but none of that has anything to do with her.

Then Octavia Lucchesi finds her alone in a marble bathroom. Octavia is the heir to the city’s most powerful crime family, and she looks at Sloane the way she looks at anything she has decided to own. One touch is enough to undo Sloane’s composure. Octavia, for her part, recognises the moment Sloane trembles as the moment the decision was made.

Sloane tries to return to her careful world. Octavia keeps appearing in it, near her classes and the places she studies, and makes it plain that anyone who comes between them will regret it. The danger around Octavia is real, and it does not stay at a distance. The question is whether Sloane can choose the darkness Octavia offers without losing herself in it, and what it will cost when the rest of Ravenport decides Sloane is leverage.

My Review

The opening is the best thing here, and it is confident. Plenty of obsession romances spend chapters establishing why one woman is fixated on the other. Fierro puts them in a room in the first scene and lets the fixation be the premise rather than a mystery. Readers respond to that: the first meeting is the single moment more than one of them names.

The second strength is restraint where you might not expect it. For a book marketed as dark mafia romance, readers report relatively little violence and a conflict that sits between the two women rather than in a stack of corpses. One reader liked the supporting cast enough to want a spin-off for two of the older characters. That is a sign the world feels inhabited, even at 280 pages.

Where it struggles is depth, and the clearest complaint comes from one of its fans. A reader who gave it five stars and enjoys the series says the author seems to jump over the conflict, and wishes the resolution had been shown on the page. That is the risk of a short book with a big premise: the stakes are raised quickly and settled quickly. The other signal is silent. Ten Goodreads raters gave it one or two stars and 22 gave three, and none explained why, so all we can say is that roughly a quarter of its Goodreads readers came away less impressed than the reviewers.

The expectation to reset is the word “dark.” The mood is dark: stalking, possessiveness, a heroine pursued while she is still in a relationship, and danger that reaches her more than once. The outcome is not. The author guarantees a happy ending and readers praise the epilogue. If dark is what drew you, expect obsession rather than brutality. If dark is what worried you, the body count is low, but the pursuit itself is the point of the book, and it does not ask for permission.

It is worth being plain about the evidence too. Seven written reviews, all five stars, is enough to know that the book’s core readers love it, and not enough to know how it reads to everyone else.

My honest note: A confident, hot obsession romance that knows exactly what it is and gets to the point fast. If you need conflict worked through on the page, it may feel thin; if you want the pull and the possessiveness, its readers say it delivers.

How Spicy Is My Mafia Princess?

We estimate a 4 out of 5. romance.io lists the book but has no ratings or steam band for it yet, so this rests on the author’s own description, which promises very high heat and a sexual awakening, and on readers who describe a hot build-up and a hot, romantic book. Nobody describes it as closed door or as mild.

The element worth flagging in advance is the dynamic rather than any specific scene: Octavia’s pursuit is possessive by design, and the author lists power imbalance as a trope. No reviewer raises a consent concern, but with seven reviews that is weak reassurance. For a mafia romance at the very top of the heat scale, see Broken Vows; for something warmer and shorter, Soft On Her.

Who Should Read This Book?

You’ll likely love it if: you want a possessive, obsessed love interest and a heroine who wants to be claimed, you like your mafia romance with more heat than gore, you are happy with a short book that moves fast, and you want the HEA guaranteed up front.

You may want to skip it if: stalking or a heroine pursued while she has a partner is a hard no, you want the conflict worked through in detail, you need a deep bench of reviews before you trust a rating, or you want your dark romance properly brutal.

In short: fast, hot and possessive, with a guaranteed happy ending.

What Readers Are Actually Saying (October 2026)

My Mafia Princess has a steady readership and almost no discourse. It carries 135 ratings on Goodreads and 180 on Amazon, sits in Amazon’s lesbian romance and mafia romance charts well outside the top thousand, and has no reviews or steam rating on romance.io. There is no Reddit thread, no trade review and no blog coverage that we could find. What it does have is a series: several of its reviewers are clearly Queens of Ravenport readers, comparing it to earlier books and earlier heroines.

Why readers love it (according to the discourse): Chemistry first. Every review mentions the pull between Sloane and Octavia, and two name the first meeting as the hook. The heat comes next, described as hot and well built. Readers also praise the ending and the epilogue, the supporting characters, and, in one case, the editing. A series reader calls it the best of the run so far; another says Octavia rivals their favourite heroine from an earlier book; a third says it is completely different from the previous instalment.

What readers argue about and complain about: The only written criticism comes inside a five-star review: the conflict is skipped over rather than resolved on the page, and the book reads as a short story. One reader notes a slight age gap and the class difference between the leads, which is a draw for some and worth knowing for others. Beyond that, the lower ratings are silent. A quarter of Goodreads raters gave three stars or fewer, and Amazon shows 12% three-star and 5% two-star ratings, but none left a reason.

The standalone question worth asking first: It stands alone. The author says every Queens of Ravenport book is a standalone in the same universe and can be read in any order, and readers who came to it fresh do not report being lost. If you like it, the series has six books, and one reader ranks this one as the best of them.

If You Loved My Mafia Princess, Read These Next

For the same mafia world at maximum heat and with more darkness on the page, read Broken Vows. For a crime-boss’s daughter who is far more dangerous than she looks, try A Guard for the Princess. For a shorter, softer mafia romance, Soft On Her. More in our possessive and obsessive sapphic romance list, our sapphic mafia romance list and across our book reviews.

The Bottom Line

My Mafia Princess wants to be a fast, hot, possessive romance with a mafia shine, and on the word of its readers it is. The first meeting lands, the chemistry carries the book, and the happy ending is guaranteed. But the conflict is resolved quickly, the obsession includes stalking a woman who is in a relationship, and a silent quarter of its Goodreads raters were not won over. It is worth it for readers who want the pull and the possessiveness more than a carefully worked plot. Check My Mafia Princess on Amazon →

The Eikna Overall Ranking

On the Eikna scale, My Mafia Princess ranks as a short, high-heat indie obsession romance — confident chemistry and a guaranteed HEA, limited by a thin conflict and a small written record, and best approached for the possessive pull rather than the mafia plot.
