Harlequin Junkie’s reviewer writes that “my heart broke for her once we learn just how much she lost with her injury”, and notes that both leads “had lost a part of their career”. That symmetry is the emotional structure of the book.

One of the best-reviewed books in this batch. Goodreads 4.26 across 10,634 ratings, StoryGraph 4.02 with a 3% did-not-finish rate, and five blog reviews we could reach — a Harlequin Junkie Top Pick, an A grade from Professor Romance, five gold stars from Kay Daniels, an A-minus from Becky M. Moe.
What people like is the tone: funny, low angst, steamy, with real feeling underneath. The epilogue lands, one final chapter is narrated by the dog, and Pippa Grant’s comic voice is doing what it does.
The most substantive criticism is about plausibility — specifically whether a professional rugby franchise in the United States is a premise a reader can hold. That is a fair objection and it is about the setup rather than the sport content.
