Swietlinski is interested in a question most romances skip: what happens when a happily married woman over fifty falls for someone else, and the feelings are returned? Readers say she answers it intensively, emotionally and truthfully, and that the book stands out from typical lesbian romance. Several found it slow to get into but were glad they persisted, calling it worth the time and emotion and a novel that leaves you with much to think about.
